Parking

Please make sure you are parking safely and legally at drop off and pick up times. We will be having regular visits from our local PCSOs over the coming weeks to assess the parking situation and to look out for any issues which arise from this.

 

After-school Clubs from 27^th February until 31^st March

Mondays – Archery

Tuesdays – Outdoor circuits

Wednesday – Hockey

Thursday – Basketball

Friday – Football

 

After-school club booking

On one occasion this week, we had three children at after-school club who had not been booked in. These took us over our maximum capacity of 30. Please make sure that children are booked in, otherwise, they may find they are unable to take part in all activities or activities are restricted due to health and safety. In some circumstances, we may have to call parents to collect children early.

 

PE changes after half term:

There are a various events this coming half term so we have to change a few PE days here and there:

Wednesday, 1^st March – Class 4 PE

Monday, 6^th March – Class 3 PE

Thursday, 9^th March – All of Class 4 and the Year 5s from Class 5 need outdoor PE kits for orienteering

Wednesday, 15^th March – Class 5 PE

Thursday, 30^th March – Class 2 PE

 

Leicestershire County Council Poster Competition

Attached to this email is a flyer from Leicestershire County Council, inviting children to design a poster giving tips on how to reduce their carbon footprint. Entries should be submitted directly to LCC by Friday, 3^rd March.

 

NEU Teacher strike – Wednesday, 1^st March

There is a second day of strike action planned by the NEU for 1^st March. As before, I currently expect us to be open as normal. If this changes, I will let you know.

 

World Book Day – Thursday, 2^nd March

We have got lots of book and creative writing themed fun planned for World Book Day on 2^nd March, including a visit from a professional storyteller. We will not be dressing up.

 

Parents’ Evenings 7^th and 8^th March

As in October, these are in person meetings. Please book your appointments on Arbor. If you are struggling to find them or can not access Arbor, please contact the Office or speak with your child’s class teacher.

 

Significant Change Consultation

You may have seen the email that was sent out earlier in the week containing information about the forthcoming changes to the school. Whilst Leicestershire County Council are accepting feedback on the planning application, we are inviting responses to increasing the school capacity from 147 to 210 to enable us to continue to serve our growing community. Change to dinner menu, 1^st March, 15^th March, 16^th March

On Wednesday, 1^st March and Wednesday, 15^th March the school dinner options will be:

Jacket potato served with cheese, baked beans and salad, with either a shortbread cookie, fresh fruit or yoghurt as a dessert.

On Thursday, 16^th March it will be:

Margherita pizza, ½ jacket potato, baked beans and salad, with either a chocolate crunch cookie, fresh fruit or yoghurt as a dessert.

 

Friday Cake Sale – Please could you help?

The PTA run the cake sale every Friday but due to other commitments it is becoming more difficult to run the stall every week. Would you be able to help sell cakes from 3.15pm to 3.30pm once in a while? This would not tie you to the PTA in anyway - we just need help to sell the cakes (although you'd be very welcome on the PTA too)! It's a great treat for the kids that we want to keep going. Summer Fair, Sunday, 21^st May, 11am – 3pm – Can you help?

This is the big PTA event of the year and we are already planning for this year's extravaganza! We can only run this event with the help of parents and teachers. Would you be able to help on the day to run a stall, set up or clear away? If you can help all day - great, but if that's not possible, we would also appreciate if you can help for an hour or too?
