Hummingbirds
Here comes summer!

'Revolution' is our topic for the whole of the summer term.
We will be taking a look at the First Industrial Revolution. Our art will involve creating our own woven piece and D&T will be adapting recipes. Maths and English will centre on revision of KS2 knowledge and application as SATs week will quickly come around. We will also have a 'big push' to complete our writing folder with our best pieces of work from across the year. Always nice to revisit and realise how far we have come since the first draft.
We will have several sporting events, our Whitby residential and, of course, our KS2 summer performance. Year 6s will have their transition days in the second half of the term.
Summer will be an action-packed term but, as always, it will be fun!

HOMEWORK
Expectations generally are:
- Reading - at least 3 times per week. It doesn't have to be all night. A minimum of 10 minutes will do it. Reading comprehension cards are available to be taken home - one per week - and the swap with another child the following week.
- Times table rock stars - keep your practice up so your speeds increase. It's amazing how much time you can gain to work out maths questions when your recall of number facts is speedy and accurate.
- Spellings - Morpheme grids sent home for additional practice along with lists of words so you can practice the rules you need to know by the end of KS2.
- SATs Companion - Try the practice sessions on a wide range of topics within maths, English and science as well as the set tasks. You are expected to complete each task set! Practice will increase your accuracy, speed and, most importantly, your confidence
Here's to an amazing term of learning and activities.
