SUMMER TERM

SUMMER TERM

This term our topic is  ADVENTURES.

We shall be sharing a range of stories including Jack and the Beanstalk, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Paddington Bear. We will be investigating plants and learning about what they need to grow. We will explore the lifecycle of caterpillars, and we will also be following and creating our own maps and finding out about famous landmarks in London.

Our continuous provision activities will be linked to our topic areas each week.

Maths

We will continue to focus on two-digit numbers this term and learn about place value. As well as mastering the numbers to 10, including doubles, halves and number bonds.  We will also go back over creating patterns, our basic shapes and addition and subtraction.

Phonics

We are recapping all the sounds we have learnt so far this year and reading words ending with the suffixes ed, er and est. As we get into the second half of the term we will begin to look at phase 5 in preparation for year 1. As you know, homework is sent on a Friday and is due back the following Wednesday. Precision Teach sheets will be sent out as appropriate for any sounds and/ or tricky words your child may need to learn.

RE

Our theme is special stories, and we will be thinking about stories that are important to Christians.

Forest School & PE

Forest school will be on Tuesdays and PE on Thursdays.

Our Value Focus this term is Friendship and then in the second half, Strength and Courage.

If you have any questions, you can jot them in the Partnership Diary as this is checked daily. Alternatively, you can always ask at the end of the day. If it is something which you'd rather keep private or may take a little longer to discuss, please arrange a time with the office. Thank you in advance for the support you'll be giving your child at home. It really is invaluable.
