Fri 24 Nov 2023Breakfast Club – Monday 27th November
Please do not use the car park to drop children off for breakfast club on Monday. The steel work is being delivered for the hall extension and there will be a large delivery lorry and a crane working in the car park. It will not be safe for drop off. Please use the turning circle, the small gate will be open from 8.00 a.m. Thank you
Wednesday 29th November – No Pens Day
Next Wednesday we will be taking part in a national initiative designed to develop children’s speech and language skills – No Pens Day. All day the children will be developing their language skills and having some fun too!
Christmas Raffle
The PTA Christmas raffle tickets will be on sale from next week. This year we are looking for your support to help sell tickets so we can raise as much as we can to help fund future trips, outings and activities that benefit the children.
We will be sending home leaflets in school bags and ask that everyone tries to sell as many tickets as they can. Prizes for most tickets sold! There will be a prize for KS1 and KS2 for the children that sell the most tickets. Money collected can either be transferred directly into the PTA bank account (Reference RAF followed by child’s surname plus the number of tickets (e.g. RAFSMITH3) or cash sent back to school in an envelope with your completed forms. Thank you and good luck!
Children’s Christmas parties (PTA)
To be held in the village hall – Tuesday 19th December KS1 5.30 – 6.30 p.m. and KS2 6.45 – 7.45 p.m. Entry to the parties will be FREE this year – we will have music, lights, the usual games, activities and a tuck shop at the event. A form will come out to sign up and pre order hot dogs if desired.
School cleaner and key holder required from January
School cleaner required on a Tuesday and Thursday term time and during school holidays 2pm to 6.30 p.m. £11.38per hour. An application form and job description are available on the school website. Thank you.

The PTA would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped with, baked cakes for, and came along to support our Christmas Market on Wednesday. We made a whopping £770 which will go into the pot to support activities and events for the children. THANK YOU!
Flu immunisation – Friday 24th November
Last minute reminder - if you want your child to have this immunisation you must have given consent.

Just for your information BBC Radio 4 are recording at Old Dalby on Monday. There will be a sound engineer at the gate recording sounds of children coming in to school in the morning. This is part of a longer programme presented by Baroness Louise Casey which will be broadcast in the new year.
PTA Christmas Fair – 15th November
7-9 p.m. Old Dalby Village Hall. Thanks to all of you who have brought in mince pies for sale at the Market, we are still accepting donations until the morning of Wednesday 15th, just drop them in at the school office.
There will be lots of lovely items on sale – where you can, please consider paying by cash so that the stallholders are able to keep the money from sales.
Children in Need – Friday 17th November
Inspired by Pudsey’s multi-coloured eye patch, the prefects are inviting everyone to come in colourful clothes on Friday 17th and bring a donation for Children in Need. Over the course of that week, the classes will be taking part in the 1000 Burpee Challenge, can each class make it 1000 by the end of the week?
Swimming
Swimming for Nightingale, Penguin, Osprey and Hummingbird will start on 14 November. Without your consent your child will be unable to take part – please sign up on Arbor if you have not yet done so.

Beauty and the Beast – Christmas treat from the PTA
The PTA are treating the whole school to a trip to see Beauty and the Beast at Melton Theatre on Thursday, 14th December. This has been made possible by the tremendous amount of fundraising they carry out each year. So, if you have bought a cake, a raffle ticket, donated a prize or supported in any other way – THANK YOU!

Music for Schools Foundation
Following two very entertaining music themed assemblies at the start of the week for children in Year 2 upwards, we will be working with the Music for Schools Foundation to offer access to individual and small group music lessons. Mrs Hickton, who also works as a tutor for the Foundation, will be available to discuss what is on offer and will have a range of instruments to view in Puffin Class, after school on Friday 10th November. Please feel free to drop in and have a chat about what is available.
