    This week’s headlines:

    PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE IN SCHOOL UNTIL WEDNESDAY, 21st DECEMBER.

    Winter Meals
    You may have spotted the email that went out on Thursday, offering free meals for up to 30 KS2 children over the Spring Term. A group of local residents have offered to fund these with the intention of offering a little extra support to local families.
    Please contact Mrs Browne: rbrowne@olddalbyschool.org.uk to sign up for the scheme or for further information.

    Strep A
    We have had a confirmed case of a strep A infection in school.
    Strep A can cause scarlet fever which is a mild infection treatable with anti-biotics, in very rare occasions this can develop into something more serious.
    Symptoms include: sore throat, headache, fever, a fine pinkish red body rash with a sandpapery feel. On darker skin, the rash can be more difficult to detect visually but will have a sandpapery feel.
    If you are concerned that you are child is exhibiting any of these symptoms, please contact your GP practice or NHS 111.
    Children can return to school 24 hours after beginning anti-biotic treatment.

    Ice Warning and Information 
    This week, all children will have spoken about the dangers of playing on icy ponds and lakes. 

    KS2 Carol Singing, 3pm Monday, 19th December, 3pm
    Children from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be singing carols on the playground from 3pm until 3:15pm. Feel free to come along and join in or simply share in the Christmas spirit!

    PTA Christmas raffle – 4th-20th December
    The PTA will be running a festive raffle with some fantastic prizes, including a Brocklebys Ultimate Pie Making Workshop Voucher, a £50 Northern oil voucher and a £30 voucher to spend at Wymondham Windmill. Tickets can be bought from the school office or using this link: https://forms.office.com/r/xmC66EFMtP
    Tickets will be £1 each, winners will be drawn on Tuesday, 20th December.

    Carol Singing at Hunters’ Lodge – 10am, Monday, 19th December
    The whole school will be heading up to Hunters’ Lodge to entertain the residents with some Christmas carols and festive songs.

    Christmas Church Service – 9:45am, Tuesday, 20th December
    We will be going to Church in the morning of 20th December, to celebrate the arrival of Christmas with Rev’d Jamie.
    Everyone is welcome to come along and join us. Rev’d Jamie has said that the Church heating is currently not working so wrap up warm! He has offered to have tea and coffee available for parents and family before the service to help keep everyone warm.

    We’ll all be enjoying Christmas dinner on Tuesday, 20th December. There is no need to book in advance.

    PTA Disco – Tuesday, 20th December – FREE ENTRY
    EYFS and KS1 5:30pm-6:30pm, KS2 6:45pm-7:45pm, free squash will be available at both discos.
    There will also be a tuck shop, glitter tattoos, teddy tombola and other activities.

    ***DATE CHANGE*** Santa Dash – Friday, 16th December

    Due to staff absence, Mrs Bryan’s fiendish and festive Christmas orienteering challenge will now take place next Friday morning - 16th December.

     

    Christmas Jumper Day - Friday, 16th December

    Non-uniform day, wear festive jumpers and tops if you have them, otherwise, anything comfy!

    No charge, it’s just for fun.

    Teddy/Surprise Jar Donations for the Christmas Disco

    If you have any unwanted teddys in good condition that you could donate for our teddy orphanage please send them into the school office by next Friday 16th latest. We are also collecting surprise jars to be sold at our disco - if you are able to fill a jar with sweets / small stationary items or similar (no nut items please) we would love these to be in by next Friday 16th too.

     

    Sports Club, 3rd- 6th January

    Thank you to those who replied to our survey about a sports club in January. We have had a lot of interest so we will be going ahead with this. Please see the attached information about how to book etc. This is completely independent of school, they will handle all of the booking and queries etc through their own webpage: https://sportscoolleicester.schoolipal.co.uk

    An email was sent earlier this week with instructions for how to book a place.

    Old Dalby Reindeer Trail

    If you haven't walked round the village spotting all of the reindeer displays it isn't too late! Trail maps are still available - collect your map from the cake sale tomorrow (£2) you have until Sunday 5pm to vote for your favourite display and enter the competition to unravel the Christmas Film. Prizes to be won!

    This week’s headlines:

     

    You may be aware that there was a car accident this morning involving one of our families. All involved are being very well looked after and I am sure you all join with us in school in sending our love to everyone involved.

    Children in Classes 4 and 5 have had opportunity to talk with staff and have been reassured that their classmates are safe. Staff will be available for anyone to talk for as long as is needed.

     

    Super fundraising!

    A huge well done to Charlotte, Hannah and Frankie who ran a cake sale in their village to raise funds for Children In Need. They raised £138.26 and truly did themselves proud!

    What an amazing effort girls – well done!

     

     

    Christmas warm up concert – Friday, 2nd December, 6:30pm

    Thank you to everyone who has signed up for this event – we’re looking forward to kicking off the festivities later tonight!
