PE shorts
As the weather gets warmer, more children are choosing to wear shorts on their PE days.
All shorts should be either cycling shorts or looser PE style shorts.
Please make sure that shorts are of a reasonable length, longer than the Nike Pro 3-inch style that we are seeing more of in school - during the day, these get shorter as the children move around and play at lunchtime, resulting in them becoming inappropriately short, especially during gymnastics and dance.
As a guide, shorts should roughly reach halfway to the child’s knee. I realise that this may result in new PE kit needing to be purchased, therefore, this will be expected to be in place once we return from Easter.
Skirts
We are seeing a lot of skirts getting shorter too. Please keep skirts to knee length at least. When the children sit down, run around on the playground or sit on the floor, these ride up and become incredibly short.
Smart Phones
Several parents have expressed their concerns about smart phones, in the last few weeks. If you are concerned about the impact on children of smart phones, there is further information available here:

Summer Fair – Sunday 18th May
Calling all parents! As we begin preparation for this year’s Summer Fair, we are looking for any volunteers who can help on the day, either for the whole event, or even just for one or two hours. The more help we have, the more events we can run, the more fun everyone has, and the more money we can make for the school! Please can you let us know if you are able to help for any part of the day at PTA@olddalbyschool.org.uk or let Mrs Brown or one of the PTA team know.
Also, please can everyone consider if you have anything you can donate to the event e.g. plants for the plant stall, wine for the ‘water or wine’ stall, any new and unused items that could be used as prizes for the tombola or other games (toys, teddies, toiletries, chocolates, treats, crafts, accessories, stationery etc).
Unfortunately, we will not be able to store them, so please hold on to them until closer to the event – we’ll let you know when to bring them in! Any donations will be very gratefully received!
Thank you for your help.
Your PTA!
